Esky baseball earns road sweep over Mountaineers

IRON MOUNTAIN — Make it five-straight wins for Escanaba baseball.
The Eskymos earned a convincing doubleheader sweep over Iron Mountain on Wednesday. Here’s what went down.
Escanaba 10, Iron Mountain 0 (four innings)
Wednesday’s opener proved to be another office day for Lennox Peacock. The junior right-hander tossed four perfect innings with 10 strikeouts. He struck out the side in the first and third innings. IM’s Aiden Ellis flew out twice, the only two instances where it put a ball in play in fair territory.
The Eskymos (5-1) tacked on three runs off a RBI single from junior Nolan Bink and two IM errors. The lead swelled to 5-0 off another Mountaineer error and a RBI single from junior Brian Boutilier.
Esky added five runs in the fourth behind a RBI sacrifice fly from junior Ashton Rymkos, an RBI single from junior Cannon Arnt, a two-run single from junior Gavin Wagner.
Sophomore Mikaiden Hughes finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Freshman Bryce Bichler earned three stolen bases, scored twice, drew a walk and went 1-for-1 from the plate.
The Eskymos struck out twice and committed no errors in game one.
Escanaba 18, Iron Mountain 2 (four innings)
The Eskymos tacked on a total of 18 base hits to go with 18 runs in the win, scoring five runs in the first and fourth innings while plating seven in the third frame.
Peacock finished 3-for-4 with a triple, double, stolen base, five RBIs and three runs scored. Rymkos went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Junior Owen Field went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
Hughes went 2-for-2 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Arnt finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Arnt went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Alex Ison added a double, triple, two runs scored and an RBI.
Boutilier allowed two unearned runs off two hits with a walk and three strikeouts in four innings of action on the mound.
