Gladstone’s Meyer bounced in state semifinals
JACKSON –For the second straight season it took the eventual state champion end Gladstone senior Matthew Meyer’s bowling season.
Meyer was eliminated in the semifinal round by Almont’s Hunter Ross, who claimed the Division 3 state championship Saturday in Jackson’s JAX 60.
But Meyer’s efforts were exactly what you’d expect out of someone who reached the championship round a year ago. Meyer claimed the No. 6 seed after bowling a total of 1,278 in the qualifying round, including a game of 299. Meyer knocked off No. 11 Charlie Brown III 427-348 in the round of 16 and bested No. 14 Max Burdick 448-393 in the round of eight.
