No. 2 Gladstone gals rally to top No. 4 Calumet
CALUMET–It’s not always about how you start, but about how you finish.
No. 2 Gladstone girls’ basketball proved that to be true as sophomore Eva Pankonien drained the game-winning 3-pointer with 20 seconds left to cap off a 14-0 run for a 48-46 win over No. 4 Calumet on Friday.
Junior Standout Lillie Johnson, who picked up her fourth foul early in the second half, netted 11 of her game-best 18 points in the first half. Pankonien finished with 13. Senior Mayce Hanson added nine points and junior Addy Blowers added six.
Kiirsi Johnson and Jess Anderson each netted 12 points for the Copper Kings.
The Braves stay on the road to face Ishpeming at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
