No. 2 Braves keep rolling with pair of road wins
GLADSTONE –Make it six wins in a row now for No. 2 Gladstone girls’ basketball.
The 17-1 Braves emerged victorious on back-to-back road games with senior point guard Mayce Hanson out of the lineup due to illness.
Here’s what went down:
No. 2 Gladstone 61 Menominee 35
The Braves improved to 7-0 in Great Northern Conference play by taking a 32-20 halftime lead over the Maroons (6-11) on Wednesday. Junior Lillie Johnson led all scorers with 19 points. Sophomores Evan Pankonien and Adele Ostlund netted 16 and 13 points respectively while combining for six made 3-pointers. Junior Addy Blowers added seven points.
No. 2 Gladstone 44, Gwinn 20
The Braves netted their 17th win of the season with a road win on a night where Johnson’s 21 point was enough to beat the Modeltowners (3-15) by herself. Blowers added nine points.

The Braves host Kingsford (8-9) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. The Flivvers are coming off a 50-47 road loss to rival Iron Mountain.
