Meet the racer: Dirt bike ice racer Ethan Maksim

GWINN — As the 2025 ice racing season passed its mid way point, Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got a chance to sit down with bike racer Ethan Maksim to discuss a variety of topics.
Adam Hinch: What got you into the ice races?
Ethan Maksim: I got a dirt bike four years ago. We heard about the ice races just down the road so we studded the tires, came out and I won my first ever race and that is what got me hooked.
AH: When did you develop your passion for dirt bikes?
EM: I have been riding dirt bikes since I was five years old.
AH: What do you like to do outside of dirt bikes?
EM: I like playing football and baseball and riding snowmobiles.
AH: What is your favorite subject in school?
EM: I really enjoy math.
AH: What is your favorite food?
EM: Cheeseburgers.
AH: What is your favorite football team?
EM: The Detroit Lions.
AH: Do you have a favorite player?
EM: David Montgomery.
AH: What position do you play in football?
EM: I play Halfback.
AH: You a Coke or Pepsi guy?
EM: Coke.
AH: What is your favorite video game of choice?
EM: Tony Stewart Sprint Car Racing.
AH: What was your most memorable moment from your early career in racing?
EM: Winning the Wisconsin State Championship on my 250 bike.
