Esky girls beat Menominee

MENOMINEE –The race for second place in the Great Northern Conference is alive and well for Escanaba girls’ basketball after a 47-30 win over Menominee on Tuesday.

Senior Katey Lamb led the charge with a 10 point, 10 assist double-double to go with six steals and five rebounds. Senior Grayson LaMarche added eight points and seven boards. Junior Ava Stalboerger added eight points on 4-of-4 shooting. Senior Clara Braun added seven points and junior Landry Bray contributed five points.

The Eskymos committed 12 turnovers. Esky stays on the road to face No. 4 Sault Ste. Marie at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Eskymos are also in a three-way tie for second place in the GNC at 3-4 with Marquette and Kingsford. The Flivvers face the Maroons (1-6 GNC) on Thursday with Menominee winning the first matchup 45-42 in Kingsford.

The Eskymos close their regular season in Marquette on Feb. 25. Esky bested the Sentinels 48-39 on Jan. 7.
