HARRIS — A 21-point effort from junior Lauren Adams led Norway girls basketball to a 63-36 win over Bark River-Harris here Monday.

Adams scored 11 of her 21 points in the second half. Adams hit the first shot of the third quarter to give the Knights a 37-19 lead. Moments later Adams drove through the lane for a layup and the Knights led 39-22.

Emma Zawada responded by driving to the basket and drawing a foul and making a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 39-24.

The Knights answered back with an 11-0 run. Senior Abby Richer hit a 3-pointer and followed it up with a driving layup to extend the lead to 44-24. Senior Mary Cavagnetto added a layup and knocked down a 3-pointer to extend the Knights lead to 49-24. Adams capped off the run with a layup to extend the lead to 51-24.

“Lauren is a very skilled player,” Broncos coach Paige Welch said. “That is what I talked about during our post-game talk. She didn’t get there just doing practices, she spends hours in the gym to improve her skills and it shows every night out on the court.”

Adams started the fourth stanza with a 3-pointer from the wing to extend the lead to 54-26. After a pair of layups by senior Anna Falk, Adams took the pass and drove to the basket for a layup extending the Knights lead to 60-28.

The Knights forced 32 Broncos turnovers on the night. The Broncos were led by senior Hope Varoni with nine points while Julia Nault and Melinah Cortez each had six.

The Broncos return to action Thursday as they host Carney-Nadeau.
