TRAVERSE CITY –In its latest down state excursion, Escanaba hockey collided with two of the top 12 teams in the state of Michigan.

Here’s what went down.

No. 2 Hartland 5, Escanaba 2

Esky’s weekend action started with a loss to the No. 2 team in the land on Friday. Nick Martinson recorded both of Esky’s goals. Ben Sands added a pair of assists and Keagan Braun chipped in a helper. Junior goaltender faced 35 shots. Esky produced 18 shots.

Escanaba 4, No. 11 Clarkston 1

Saturday’s win featured a couple of impressive stat lines.

Hayes turned away 57 of 58 shots. Freshman Griffin Johnson netted his first high school hat trick while junior Graham Johnson tallied three assists. Owen LaBonte added a goal. Junior Nolan Bink tallied a pair of assists while Sands, Alex Schwalbach and Cale carter each added a helper.

The Eskymos host Kingsford at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
