HOUGHTON –North Central’s Jordan Walters played hero as the Jets boys’ basketball to a 42-39 win over Baraga on Michigan Tech University’s home court on Monday.

Trailing 39-36 with mere seconds left on the clock Walters drained his third 3-point shot of the game from the corner to tie the game with nine seconds remaining. He then earned a steal and fired an awkward, off-balance 3-pointer from the wing.

Most people miss the shot. Walters drained it with three seconds remaining for the lead. The Jets trailed Baraga 12-1 after the first quarter.

Walters led all scorers with 16 points and four 3-pointers. Ben Stage added 10 points and Kaden Malone netted eight points with two made 3-pointers. Daniel Connor led Baraga with 15 points. Joseph Fish added 13 points.

The Jets (6-1) trip to face Stephenson at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Baraga trips to face Ewen-Trout Creek at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
