Meet the Athlete: Carney-Nadeau’s Sam Salo
CARNEY — With the Car- ney-Nadeau Holiday Tournament starting tonight, the Carney-Nadeau boys basketball team sits at 2-4 but continues to believe that the best is yet to come. Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got a chance to sit down with Carney-Nadeau point guard Sam Salo to discuss a various number of topics.
Adam Hinch: When did you
develop the love for basketball? Sam Salo: I would say it started
around kindergarten.
AH: Who got you into basketball? SS: It wasn’t one person. I’d say
the 2012 team that went to the state semifinals. I used to go home and try to play like those guys so that is where it all started.
AH: Is basketball your favorite sport?
SS: Oh yeah definitely.
AH: What is your next favorite sport?
SS: I’d have to say baseball.
AH: What is your pregame routine? SS: It’s real basic, I just try to get
myself psyched out, and listen to some music.
AH: What is your favorite kind of music?
SS: Everything I like rock, pop, rap, country whatever I’m feeling at the time.
AH: What is your favorite subject in school?
SS: I used to say English, but I really enjoy History.
AH: What is your favorite thing to do outside of basketball?
SS: Probably being outside hunt- ing or inside playing some video games.
AH: What is your favorite part of the basketball season?
SS: Being together with my team- mates and winning games.
AH: Do you enjoy the long bus rides after games?
SS: It depends on if we won or lost. AH: What is your favorite food? SS: Pizza.
