Hail to… Grayson
ESCANABA — Since her first varsity softball start, Escanaba softball coaches and team knew they had something special in Grayson LaMarche. On Monday, that something special was confirmed with her signature on her letter of intent to the University of Michigan where she will begin attending classes in the fall of 2025.
LaMarche got her first start at pitcher her freshman year and had double-digit strikeouts in that game. LaMarche continued on from there earning First Team All-State honors for pitching during her sophomore and junior seasons.
Ever since LaMarche visited the campus of Michigan at Ann Arbor, the thought of playing anywhere else was gone. “I realized from the moment I got there this is where I wanted to play,” LaMarche said. “It has always been a big dream of mine to play softball in college and to play for Michigan and I can’t wait to get started.”
LaMarche recorded a 13-1 record in the 2024 season and had an 1.03 earned run average and 135 strikeouts. As a batter she recorded a .551 batting average with three nome runs, 20 RBIs and a .841 slugging percentage.
“They are getting a great player on both offense and defense,” Eskymos coach Andy Fields said. “She is easy to coach, she’s a good athlete and i’m excited for her senior season and what she will do past that.”
Grayson and her team will begin their season in the spring and attempt to make a run down state and send her off on a winning note.
