Vote ‘no’ on school proposals

EDITOR:

I am very surprised that no one has responded to Mr. King’s letters to the press about the upcoming school millage proposals in Gladstone. I would like to respond and say I back him in voting no on proposals. I worked in various school systems for 30 years, so I am aware of proceedings in school districts such as Gladstone. Here are my reasons for not supporting the upcoming millage election. Reason #1. I don’t believe 3 and 4 year olds belong in school. They should be at home or a qualified day care center learning social skills. Reason #2. Money for playground equipment: usually PTO’s raise funds for this and do maintenance on it as well. Reason #3, new lockers? Aren’t those things indestructible? A new coat of paint would cover that problem. Reason #4: New gymnasiums at both Cameron Elementary as well as the new high school is absolutely ridiculous.

Inflation is at an all time high and not getting any better. Enrollment has been at a decline over the past few years. Taxes are high and getting higher. People just cannot afford another millage taxation. People in Gladstone, Wake up as to what is going on. Gladstone ran these proposals before and they failed. So let’s run them again! Vote NO! on both proposals!
