Concert praised
EDITOR:
Once more Escanaba was reminded of God’s goodness. Last Sunday evening the Escanaba Baroque ensemble performed Handel’s Messiah at the St Joseph Catholic Church. This performance, I am sure, was as astonishing as when it was first performed in Dublin, Ireland on April 13, 1742. Cheers, whoopings and applause never stop at the concert in Escanaba! The size of the audience was amazing. The entire sanctuary of St Joe’s Church was filled. All this is a testimony and effect of the story of Jesus’ life and resurrection it still has on us. Not just did the concert prepare us for the upcoming season, but it reminded us of God’s grace in sending his son Jesus Christ to our world. Words from Old Testaments’ prophecy of a savior to come, His life, death and resurrection was a sermon like no other sermon ever heard. Kudos to Escanaba for showing up in force in respect for the reminder of Jesus. More than anything else it reveals our deep and profound desire for some real good news in troubled times. It, again invites us of forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ. Thank You Baroque members and Saint Joe’s Church.
