Firefighter thanks medical personnel
This week’s bouquets go to:
From Tom Sealander, ladder captain, Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department:
I have been a volunteer firefighter in Delta County for over 40 years. Last Saturday we were called to the Stonehouse for mutual aide along with many others. During this incident, I developed an uncomfortable feeling. As per Delta County protocol, an ambulance is staged near a major incident. I walked 50 feet to the Rampart crew on scene and was put into the rig and transported to St. Francis Hospital with heart attack symptoms. The ER at St. Francis Hospital was waiting for me. Stabilized and transferred me to UP Health System Marquette. Upon arrival, Rampart crew brought me directly to a room with another waiting crew. I had a stent installed and was in my recovery room before fellow firefighters left the scene. Everyone that day, fellow firefighters, Rampart crew, the staff at St.Francis, and the group at UP Health was polite, intelligent, efficient and professional. Because of their care, I am still here. I was also home for Christmas! Thank you everyone, you deserve this bouquet.
