Praise for the Pocket Park

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Sofia Johnson of Escanaba:

My name is Sofia and I am 9 years old. I am from America, though my family and I live in Jamaica. In Jamaica, it gets so very hot in the summer, so we stayed at my grandparents’ house in Escanaba. It was so amazing. Everything we did was memorable, but one of my absolute favorite things to do was go to the Pocket Park.

My brother Danny and I wanted to try archery even before we went to Escanaba. Well, at the Pocket Park they have free archery lessons. We went to archery every day we could! I was heartbroken when I missed a day. We even tried catch and release fishing! They have a large, active fish pond. We also went to some of their special events. We learned a ton at a mushroom foraging presentation. The next day, we decided to go to a nature journaling workshop. We participated in an awesome nature scavenger hunt. We also went to an informative invasive species activity. The Pocket Park is so much fun! There is wildlife all around the park such as squirrels, fish, birds, and more! There are a bunch of towering, beautiful trees, too. The staff is really kind and friendly. All the activities are free, too! I can’t wait to go back next summer. You should definitely go to the Pocket Park!
