ESCANABA — William Howard Pickle, age 76, of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at his home in Escanaba. He was born October 4, 1948 in Charleston, S.C. and was the son of Ernest and Francis (Lewis) Pickle. Bill graduated from Mexico High School in Mexico, Mo. in 1966. He then attended and graduated from North East Missouri State College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry.
Bill married the former Margaret “Peg” Dickson on August 13, 1970 in Mexico, Mo. and the couple moved to St. Louis, Mo. where Bill accepted a job as a chemist for the National Lead Paint Company. In 1972 Bill and Peg moved to Escanaba where Bill was employed at Office Service Company as a salesman and repaired office equipment. He worked in the automotive department at Walmart and then became the construction manager for Habitat for Humanity building homes. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Delta County Sportsman Club. He enjoyed going to auctions, fixing up classic cars and mowing grass.
Bill is survived by his wife Peg; sons, Michael (Jennifer) Pickle of Escanaba and Robert (Stacy) Pickle of Green Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Emily and Noah Pickle; sister, Judy Auxter of Pleasant Hill, Mo. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by sister Debbie Jones.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel VanBeek officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
