Karen Lynn Grosskreutz

ROCK — Karen Lynn Grosskreutz, 67 of Rock, passed away peacefully at her home on April 19, 2025.

Karen was born in Marquette, on May 31, 1957, a daughter of John and Carmen (Marietti) Meyer of Big Bay.

Karen was a compassionate, fun-loving spirit with a wild side and dash of sassiness who loved volunteering her time at the Moose Lodge in Munising, Mich. She was always willing to jump in to help a friend or lend them a hand. Karen enjoyed listening to music, going on casino trips, playing cards and being on a Harley with the wind in her hair and hosting her annual Wave Party. She was an avid pool player who won many trophies over the years.

Karen tended bar throughout the U.P. for many years. She was a social butterfly who loved her job. She loved all the people and listening to their stories. When she was feeling wild she enjoyed showing off her handstand skills on the bar.

Karen married Lyle Grosskreutz on September 27, 1998 and they spent many wonderful years together and raised a loving family. Karen was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother who was always by her children’s sides. She loved spending time with her children and playing with her grandchildren gave her great joy.

Karen is survived by her husband, Lyle Grosskreutz; her children, Kimberly (Alan) Papple, Jared (Collen) Boucher, Tyler Seppanen, Kylee Degenaer, Haley Grosskreutz and Vincent Grosskreutz; grandchildren, Josh, Jacob, and Emily Papple, Cheyloo, Elijah, and Paisley Boucher, Aurora Londo, Bolton and Zarya Degenaer; her mother-in-law; Clare Grosskreutz; her sister, Shelly (Dale) Beaudry and their son, Brad; her uncle, William Marietti; along with numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her stepmother, Joyce Meyer; her father-in-law, Larry Grosskreutz; and her brother-in-law, Leon (George) Grosskreutz.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held in McFarland, Mich. at the McFarland Community Center, Hwy M-35 on Saturday, May 3 starting at 1 p.m. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
