Jacob R. Veeser

ESCANABA — Jacob R. Veeser, 28, of Escanaba, passed away in Dutch Harbor, Alaska on April 4, 2025.

Jake was born March 16, 1997 in Escanaba, the son of Wade and Cynthia (Bizeau) Veeser. He was a 2016 graduate of Escanaba.

After graduation, Jacob left to pursue a career in Alaska alongside his father as a commercial fisherman. He spent a summer on the F/V Arctic Lady and continued his fishing career on the F/V Lady Alaska as the chief engineer and relief captain. He loved being in Alaska and took pride in working on the Bering Sea for the last 9 years. He easily made friends with many of the fishermen and loved to make people laugh.

In earlier years, Jacob enjoyed playing baseball and football and was part of the Holy Name 2010 (8th grade) football team that went undefeated.

Jake enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and spending time with his beloved dogs: Bella and Bobby.

In addition to his loving parents, Jacob is survived by: brother, Christopher (Barbie) Mathias and nephew, Mads Mathias of Wells; Grandma Lois Bizeau and Grandma Donna Veeser; uncles, Nick Veeser of Powers, and Bryan (Kaye Corriveau) Bizeau of Escanaba; aunts, Debra (Fred) Herzog of Escanaba and Brenda O’Neil of Illinois; four cousins, Justin Herzog of Escanaba, Jon and Richie O’Neil of Illinois and Michael Bizeau, Jr. of Escanaba. Godparents: Greg and Clary Veeser, Step Aunt: Michele (Steve) LaBonte and their children, Brent and Zoe. Jacob is preceded in death by: Uncles: Brian O’Neil and Michael Bizeau, Sr. Grandma Sharon Veeser, Grandpa Ralph Veeser and Grandpa Robert Bizeau.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22, from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Funeral Service will take place at 6 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Veeser family.
