Helen Lorraine Corbett (Leach)
ESCANABA — Helen Lorraine Corbett (Leach), 87 passed away at her home on March 28, 2025. She was born on February 19, 1938, and was the beloved only child of Theodore (Teddy) Leach and Lillian Meyer (Britz). She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1957, embarking on a journey filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories.
Throughout her life, she held several jobs, but one of her favorites was working at Tommy’s Lunch. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert Corbett, who finally asked her out on a date while she was working. Their love story blossomed, and they were married on May 6, 1968. Together, they built a loving family.
Her love and hard work shone through when she supported her husband in fulfilling his dream of owning and operating a business. They purchased the Palm Bar, renaming it “Boobie’s Bar” after her husband’s lifelong nickname from grade school. She was the support and operating force behind the scenes, and the reason why everyone looked forward to the St. Patrick’s Day parties they hosted every year.
Helen had a passion for cooking, baking, gardening, and being outdoors. One of her favorite places to go was the cottage they bought in the summer of 1968 on Round Lake. There are many memories of her enjoying the beauty and relaxation of the lake. Everyone in the family has a story of her taking them on a walk and venturing off the road onto a trail just to see where it led and to view nature at its best.
She is survived by her loving son, Mitch (Wanda) of Wausau, Wis.; daughters, Helen (Don) and Donna (Jim), both of Escanaba; grandchildren, Sean, Brandon, Jimmy, Avery, Braelyn, and Nicky; great-grandchildren, Taya and Channing; and stepbrothers, Pat (Dorrie) and Terry of Superior, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Teddy and Lillian, and her stepfather, Dwight Meyer. Stepsons Steven and Thomas Corbett
She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the joy she brought to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A small private gathering will be held by the family at a later date. The Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Corbett family with the arrangements and online condolences can be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
