MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Charlotte Poquette (nee Budinger) passed away peacefully at age 87 with her loving family by her side. Born in Cornell, Michigan, Char moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin after graduating from Escanaba High School in 1956. Following her marriage to James Poquette, they settled in the iconic countryside by Holy Hill and raised four beautiful children.
She obtained an Associates Degree in Data Processing from WTCI (WCTC) in Pewaukee, Wisconsin and worked at Serigraph as an Inspector in West Bend, Wisconsin. Char’s passions included gardening, traveling, hosting gatherings for friends and family and the visual arts. She had a keen eye for design and her house was full of artistic displays of beautiful antiques that she collected over the years. She proudly displayed her detailed landscape paintings in her house for loved ones to enjoy. She especially took pride in her grandchildren and treated them to adventurous golf cart rides in her expansive backyard.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Jim Poquette; and six siblings, George Budinger, Merle (Budinger) Schnarr, John Peter Budinger, Mae (Budinger) Rouse, Grace (Budinger) Quaghebeur and Alan Budinger.
She is survived by her four children, Connie Poquette, Craig “Tony” Poquette (Patti), Cathy (Dan) Hawkins and Chris Poquette (Robin). She is further survived by her sister, Donna (Budinger) Richer; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by countless friends who felt her warmth and love.
She was Grandmother to Amanda, AJ, Joe and Jack and Great-grandmother to Avery and Rory.
To celebrate her life and commemorate her incredible journey, a memorial will take place in Wisconsin in July, 2025 with date, time and details to be determined. A mass will be dedicated in her honor at Holy Hill Basilica and Shrine on Wednesday, July 9 at 6 a.m. Additionally, a mass will be dedicated to James Poquette at Holy Hill the following week on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 6 a.m. in his honor.
She will be missed dearly. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering this remarkable woman.
