Alice Cory

CEDAR SPRINGS — Alice Cory, 82, formerly of Powers, and most recently of Cedar Springs, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Alice’s greatest joy in life was her family and her love knew no bounds. She was never happier than when her home was filled with the laughter of her children and the joyful energy of her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored.

Alice graduated from Holy Name High School in 1961 and went on to earn her degree from the Wisconsin College of Cosmetology in Green Bay in 1963. That same year, she married her loving husband, James Cory, and together they built a beautiful life, raising seven children. Beyond her professional pursuits, she found her true calling in nurturing her family. Her kitchen was often a gathering place, filled with the comforting aromas of her home-cooked meals and the warmth of her love.

Alice’s unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was devoted to her Catholic beliefs and ensured that her children attended Mass every Sunday, instilling in them the same strength of spirit, faith and commitment to family and God that she exemplified.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dalliba and Anna (Schaut) Lawrence, her beloved husband, James Cory; her brothers, William (Corrine) and David Lawrence; and her sister, Nancy (Bob) Robinette. She is lovingly remembered by her seven children: Dan (Aimee) Cory, Marci (Danton) Fitch, Mike (Jenny) Cory, James Cory, Jill (Randy) Sokol, Kelly (Bryan) Willard, and Barry (Kellie) Cory. Her cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel, Kallista, Cassi, Michael, Josh, Cati, Ellie, Lily, Allison, Shelby, Colin, Tyler, Kayla and Charlotte, and sister-in-law Bernie Lawrence, will forever hold memories of her in their hearts.

Alice’s kindness, devotion, and love will continue to live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

A memorial service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Spalding on Saturday, April 5, 2025 with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. CDT. The Mass of Christian will follow at 11 a.m. CDT with Father Benny Mathew officiating. A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall.
