Thomas ‘Tom’ A. Nowotny
ESCANABA — Thomas “Tom” A. Nowotny, 89, Wells, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1935 in Antigo, Wis., son of the late Erwin and Lillian (Goodnow) Nowotny. On August 20, 1960 he married the love of his life, the former Donna Skalecki in Wausau, Wis.
Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping, spending time outdoors, and traveling around the country with his wife. He also loved spending time with his friends and family.
Tom is survived by three children: Mike (Rita) Nowotny, Sandy Valdez, and Jan (Mike) Peters, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers: Jack Nowotny and Bob Nowotny, an infant brother: Jerry, a sister: Mary Peterson and two sisters-in-law: Gerry Nowotny and Mary Nowotny.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday March 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (600 S. Lincoln Rd., Escanaba, MI 49829) with Delta County Veterans Council rites to conclude the visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
