Scott J. Peterson

??????????
BARK RIVER — Scott J. Peterson, 62, of Bark River, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 24, 2025, while surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer.
Scott was born on November 2, 1962, in Bark River, son of E. Stanley and Elizabeth (Lord) Peterson. He resided there his entire life and attended Bark River-Harris High School while graduating in 1980.
He married his high school sweetheart, the former Laurie LaBelle, on July 23, 1983, and together they raised two sons, Greg and Logan.
Scott was a man with a good work ethic. He was mainly employed by Jacklin Steel as a truck driver and he also worked at Billerud for 26 years before retiring in 2022.
He and Laurie enjoyed horseback riding and he would often get together with his brothers, Pete and Karl, to go motorcycling down the highways and backroads. He also enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides on the four-wheeler and looking at the wildlife.
Scott had a true gift of hospitality and enjoyed hosting family and friends over the Bark River Off-Road Racing weekends, all held on the land where he grew up. Many campers lined the back yard while pot-luck meals were enjoyed by several attendees. He and Laurie also hosted the Peterson family reunion in 2020.
He enjoyed gardening and sharing the excess produce with whomever he could gift it to. Their family also took many road trips to visit brothers, Dean and Jim, in Texas and New Mexico, and special Peterson relatives in Missouri. Poker night was a favorite activity of Scotts with the “good ‘ol boys.” He was a loyal and devoted friend to many, frequently lending a helping hand whenever and wherever he could.
Among survivors include his loving wife, Laurie; sons, Greg (Pam) Peterson of Wilson and Logan (Emily) Peterson of Green Bay; grandchildren, Jackson, Landon, Hudson, Collins, Sutton, Foster, and Lowen; siblings, Sandra (Larry) Erickson, Pete (Rosanna Webber) Peterson, David (Deb) Peterson, Karl Peterson, Christine (Gary) Bergquist, Dean (Sheka Green) Peterson, Dawn (Randy) Gorecki, and Jim Peterson; in-laws, Raymond LaBelle and Doreen Bower; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Along with his parents, Scott is preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Jenni Peterson; brothers-in-law, Alan Barra, Donald and Bruce LaBelle, and George Bower; in-laws, Vern and Beverly LaBelle; and an infant nephew, Kurtis Peterson.
A special thank you to the compassionate care he received from his doctors, nurses, hospice nurses, and aides; Jill, Danielle, and Becki.
Visitation will take place at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 1236 Old U.S. 2 & 41, Bark River, MI 49807 on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. A celebration of life service will take place at the funeral home after the visitation with Pastor Christine Bergquist officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Bark River Senior Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, which was a special interest of Scotts. Messages of condolence can be directed to the family at www.crawfordfuneralhomes.net. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Peterson family.
