WHITEWOOD, S.D. — Johnny Butrymowicz, 59, of Whitewood, S.D., passed away March 13, 2025 at home. He is at peace with the Lord.
Johnny was born July 15, 1965, in Escanaba, to John and Dorothy Butrymowicz. He graduated from Premontre High School in Green Bay, Wis. in 1983. It was there that hockey became a big part of his life. He eventually moved to South Dakota to be close to the Black Hills and close to the spirit of his mother, Dorothy.
Johnny was a free spirit. He had a strong faith. He loved to golf, hike Crook Mountain and Fort Meade in the Black Hills and was an avid reader. He loved nature and all animals. He was known to always have a door open for any stray cat. He had a great sense of humor and was liked by everyone.
Survivors include his siblings, Lynn (Dick) Stymiest of Dunbar, Wis., Gail Butrymowicz of Green Bay, Wis., Paul Butrymowicz of LaCrosse, Wis., Joan (Darren) Berg of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; nephews, Braylon and Landen Berg; aunt, Linda (Dave) Kautzmann of Billings, Mont.; and many cousins.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Butrymowicz; nephew, Logan Ness; grandparents; aunts; uncles; and his beloved dog, Hopi.
Rest in peace sweet Johnny. We will miss you but reunite with you again someday.
