Victor Edward Groos
MONTELLO, Wis. — Victor Edward Groos, 89 of Montello, formerly of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage.
Victor was born in Escanaba on June 5, 1935 to Victor and Beulah (Thompson) Groos. He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1953 and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his time in service, he returned to the family business, Groos and Company. Victor worked alongside his brother, James for many years in the family business serving the community. He loved to go for rides and knew all the roads in the region. Victor enjoyed cutting wood and working with his hands. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others and strong work ethic.
Victor leaves behind two sisters, Marjorie (Bob) Brockway of Montello and Mary Louise Murphy of Waukesha; sister-in-law, Paulette Groos of Escanaba as well as many nieces and nephews.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents, brother, James and brother-in-law, James Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Victor Groos will be held on Tuesday, February 11, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Father Savio Yerasani will preside and full military honors by American Legion Post #351 of Montello will take place immediately following the mass. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 12, at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba, Michigan with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating.
The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Groos family.
