Pamela S. Sarasin

GLADSTONE — Pamela S. Sarasin, 55, of Gladstone, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at her home surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Pamela Sue Mongrain was born on February 4, 1969 in Escanaba, Mich., daughter of Gerald Francis and Elizabeth Jean (Smokovich) Mongrain. She attended Escanaba High School and graduated in 1987.

She worked as a copy center specialist at Staples for 13 years and then was employed with the Daily Press until 2019 when she was diagnosed with cancer.

The former Pamela Mongrain married Rene J. Sarasin on October 20, 2006.

Pamela enjoyed baking, roller blading, and being outside and enjoying the summer heat. As a lifelong ice skater, she was actively involved in the Escanaba Area Figure Skating Club as a coach, helped gather donations for events, and was on the committee for the annual ice-skating show. Pamela also enjoyed hiking, day trips, traveling around the U.P., and attending concerts (especially country music). Above all, she loved spending time with her family and appreciated the comfort of being at home.

Among survivors are her loving husband, Rene; children, Andy (Cassie) Evans, Meagan (Ian Fisher) Sarasin, and Haylee Sarasin, all of Gladstone, Mich.; grandchildren, Braelynn, Blaine, Parker, and Max Evans; siblings, Connie and Mark Mongrain of Escanaba; and her loving Golden Retriever, Finn.

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Elizabeth Mongrain.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 7, at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St Escanaba, MI 49829, from 2 until 5 p.m. with a funeral service taking place immediately after the visitation at 5 p.m. with Deacon Terry Sauders officiating.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pamela’s OSF Hospice team including her nurse, Brittany Kipp, Eric Barnhart, Danielle Hunt, and Lori Sundling; and the OSF Oncology Department, including NP Darcy Getzloff and her team; and the many friends or family who kept in touch to support Pam and her family during her illness.
