Mary M. Boudreau

ESCANABA — Mary M. Boudreau, 77, of Escanaba, passed away the evening of February 19, 2025 at the Bishop Noa Home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 21, 1947 in Escanaba, the daughter of Peter E. Hirn and Arlene (Lund) Olson. Mary was raised in Escanaba, attended Holy Name, and graduated from Escanaba High School. Mary went on to attend Bay College.
On January 14, 1967, she married Gary H. Boudreau at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba. They were blessed with a wonderful family and shared 58 years of marriage.
Mary was employed with the U.S. Census Department for 33 years until her retirement in 2018. She worked as a supervisor for the U.P. with 13 field workers. Throughout her career she received a National Team Award and a National Individual Award, both presented to her in Washington D.C.
She enjoyed following her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, going to camp at Sunny Brook, playing yard games, playing piano, and sewing various items for her family, especially Halloween costumes.
Mary was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Anne’s Church. She was also a proud Foster Grandparent.
Among survivors include her husband, Gary Sr.; children, Gary H. (Barb) Boudreau Jr. of Escanaba, Jennifer (Chris) VandeVelden of Green Bay, Rebecca (John Jr.) Romps of Escanaba, and Edward (Amy) Boudreau of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Thomas (Olivia) Boudreau of Colorado, Rachel Choy of Burlington, N.C., Brandon (Veronica) Robinette of Escanaba, Ryan (Maya Kerber) Robinette of Escanaba, Nicholas Boudreau of Green Bay, Wis., David (Valerie Royer) Romps of Escanaba, Joshua and Jack Boudreau of Leander, Texas; step-grandchildren, Mickenzie (Trevor) Koon of Escanaba and Felicity White of Leander, TX; three great-grandchildren, Owen Boudreau, Kendall Choy, and Quinn Robinette; siblings, Patti Ann Stiglitz of Wy. and Peter (Debbie) Hirn Jr. of Escanaba; in-laws, Peter (Irma) Boudreau of Escanaba, Darlene (Robert) Closs, Julie (Fran) Anderson, and Sue Boudreau; and many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her in-laws, Roger Boudreau Sr. and Jeanne (Michael Sr.) Bray.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot. At the conclusion of the mass, a meal will be served in the church hall along with some family tributes.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Gary Abrahamson Jr. Memory Care Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
