Lois A. Pinar

ESCANABA — Lois A. Pinar, age 78, of Escanaba passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at OSF- St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born December 29, 1946 in Escanaba and was the daughter of Earl and Astrid (Victorson) Maynard. Lois graduated from Escanaba High School in 1965 and then worked for Clairmont Transfer Company as a secretary in Escanaba.

The former Lois Maynard married John Pinar on April 16, 1966 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba and together the couple celebrated 57 years of marriage and raised their two daughters Joni and Wendy. John passed away on September 27, 2023. Lois was employed with the Intermediate School District as a secretary for many years until her retirement in 2002.

She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. Lois was a member of the Vintage Tin Car Club, and enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s sporting events whenever possible.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Joni (Steve) Korb of Caledonia, Mich., Wendy (Jim) Mielock of Alto, Mich.; grandchildren, Carl, Johnny, Sammy, Benny Mielock, Audrey, and Eden Korb; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by granddaughter, Erin Korb; sister, Sandra Pilon and brother Earl “Sonny” Maynard.

Visitation will be held from 3, to 4, p.m. Monday, February 24 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Lily Brondyke officiating.

Coffee and refreshments will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall. Inurnment will take place in the Trinity Lutheran Church columbarium in Grand Rapids.
