Lloyd Jensen

WELLS — Lloyd Jensen, 94, of Wells passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. Lloyd was born March 23, 1930 in Racine, Wisconsin to August and Clara (Becker) Jensen. Lloyd was raised in Racine and graduated from Trinity (Racine) Lutheran High School in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Eunice Eckert, on June 24, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Racine and they raised two children, Kathy, and Paul.
Lloyd started his working career manually loading and hauling produce for Eunice’s father and later worked for the Henry Ortwig Fabricating Shop. He began his sales career selling automobiles for the legendary Green Bay Packer, Don Hudson, and went on to sell sewing machines and Kirby vacuum cleaners. Lloyd then became a sales representative with the Prudential Insurance Company of America in Racine. In July 1970, he moved to Escanaba to become district manager for Prudential’s operations in the Upper Peninsula. Following a successful career with Prudential, he retired in 1990 and enjoyed time with Eunice before she passed away in 1993.
On May 27, 1994, Lloyd married Alice (Gonsowski) Olson at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Wells. Together, they enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home, spending time in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, observing nature from their home on the Escanaba River, wintering in Kissimmee, Florida, and spending time with family and friends. In retirement, Lloyd also devoted time in service to Lutheran Church-related organizations. Lloyd was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba and the Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Haines City, Florida. Exceptionally social, outgoing, and big-hearted, Lloyd was quick to forge friendships wherever he went and particularly enjoyed his daily morning coffee fellowship.
Lloyd is survived by wife, Alice; son, Paul (Debbie) Jensen of Marquette, Michigan; stepson, James (Sally) Olson of Seattle, Washington; stepdaughter, Joanne (Andrew) Finnorn of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; grandchildren, Celeste, August, Sarah, McCall, Alicia, and Aaron; sisters, Dorothy Barr and Lorraine Osuldsen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Lloyd was preceded in death by infant son Lloyd, Jr., daughter Kathy Jensen, brother Jim Jensen, and sister Lois Kurhajec.
Visitation will be held from 12, to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
