Dorothy Lee (Visner) McMillie

PESHTIGO, Wis. — Dorothy Lee (Visner) McMillie, 88, formerly of Michigan, currently of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, passed away of a respiratory illness on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 17, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Josephine (Pauwe) Visner. On July 17, 1954, she married Daniel “Dan” McMillie in Grand Rapids. After the birth of their oldest child Kathrine, Dorothy and Dan moved to the Upper Peninsula where Dan worked for the railroad. Their daughter Bette and son Charlie were born in Gladstone. Dorothy worked as a cashier for Pat and Jim’s Market in Gladstone. In 2007, the couple moved to Green Bay to be closer to family. Dan passed away on November 3, 2015. The couple had celebrated 61 years of marriage at the time of his passing. Dorothy moved to Oconto in 2020, before her health declined and she finally moved into Rennes Nursing Home in Peshtigo.

Dorothy created beautiful hand crocheted blankets for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also created special Christmas ornaments for them yearly. She loved her Detroit Lions, and enjoyed watching football and hockey on the television.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bette and David Senko of Houston, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Coleen McMillie of Oconto, Wis.; a son-in-law, Ed Brown; grandchildren, Bryan (Shannon) Brown, Brad (Kadekemi) Brown, Shawn (Jeanie) Brown, Amy (Brice) Minor, Katelyn Nolan, Stacy (Austin) Andress, Heidi McMillie, Scott McMillie, and Amanda (Greg) Stahl; great-grandchildren, Keirsten, Avery, Kade, Emma, Reagan, Elizabeth, Emily, Caleb, Mays, Beck, Kitt, Adriana, Haily, Daniel, Savana and Sylvia; a sister, Ruth (George) DeYoung and a sister-in-law, Sharon McMillie; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathrine Brown, in September of 2024; brothers and sisters.

Graveside Services will be held in July of 2025 at Garden of Rest Cemetery in Well. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family and online condolences may be sent to www.prokowall.com.

Dorothy’s family extends a special thank you to everyone at Rennes in Peshtigo for their compassionate care during the last year as Dorothy made her home there. Thank you also to Unity Hospice for their assistance during her final days.
