GREEN BAY — Carol J. Wheeler, 80, of Wells, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Carol was born on January 17, 1945 in Shreveport, La., daughter of Austin and Mildred (Provo) Godin. She was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1963. She then attended Bay de Noc Community College where she earned her nursing degree.

She worked as a registered nurse at OSF St. Francis Hospital and Pinecrest Medical Care Facility until her retirement.

Carol loved to cook, play cards and was often visiting the casino. She also cared for several children beyond her own, before her career and after retirement. Carol found no greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Connie (Leonard) Marsicek, Michael (Susan) Wheeler, Steve (Heather) Wheeler, Catherine (Todd) Colberg, Diane (Marcus) Blaskowski, and Brian (Trisha) Wheeler; 14 grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley), Joshua (Ashley), Natalie, Zachary, Mathew, Nathan, Camden, Braeden, Colin, Alex, Brooke, Ashlyn, Keera, and Keagan; four great-grandchildren, Nora, Blair, Weston, and Cole; siblings, Charles (Tina) Godin, Jerry (Sue) Godin, Susan Cook, Vivian (Billy) Gouin, Patricia (Paul) Besson; sisters-in-law, Barb Picard and Mary Jane (Malcolm) Beu; brother-in-law, John Gendron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Gendron, Kathy Davenport, and Margaret Godin.

A visitation will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. At 12:45 p.m. the Upper Peninsula Nurses Honor Guard will pay tribute to Carol. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Rick Courier officiating.

Carol will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
