William (Bill) Gregory Schultz

GLADSTONE — William (Bill) Gregory Schultz, 79, of Gladstone died peacefully surrounded by his four daughters on January 20, 2025 at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Son of Jeanette (DeShambo) and William Schultz, he was born November 19, 1945 in Escanaba. He graduated from Holy Name Catholic School in 1964, and served for the Army National Guard from 1963-69. Residing mainly in Gladstone and Flat Rock. Bill spent his entire career dedicated to Chicago Northwestern Railroad before retiring in 1992 as a foreman at the railroad.

Bill was best known for his love of family, particularly for his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a deeply beloved father, grandpa, brother, husband, and friend who never failed to advocate for others; he was a fantastic and humorous storyteller, an avid Green Bay Packer fan, a teller of jokes, a thoughtful gift giver, and a nature lover. He enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and tending to his land, hunting, NASCAR, and the Detroit Tigers. Bill could often be found at the White Birch next to the jukebox, singing along to songs and enjoying a cold beer. His greatest pride and joy were found in his children, who will profoundly miss his laughter, presence, and unending support. While his passing is an immeasurable loss, the quiet strength and love he brought to so many lives will remain. Anyone who knew Bill, loved Bill: he was the real deal.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam (Jeff) Carlson (Gladstone), Patty Schultz (Escanaba), Paula (Roy) Cady (Peoria, Ariz.), and Polly Wunder (Escanaba); sisters Lollie (Richard) Manske (Etowah, N.C.), and Elaine (Jim) Wils, (Alpena); grandchildren Jason (Tunisha) Carlson, Benjamen (Tamara) Carlson, Megan (Trevor) Lovell, Alesha (Phillip) Swanson, Crissy (Eric) Phillips, Cassie (Bradley) Liberty, Tommy Cady, Krista McKindles, Levi and Scout Wunder; great grandchildren Kasadee and Jackson Swanson, Lydia, Winston and Lucy Lovell, Kinsley, and Everleigh Liberty; special friend Donna Cavill; stepson Michael Scheuren (Escanaba); numerous nieces/nephews and loved ones.
