Ruth O. Wilson

RAPID RIVER — Ruth O. Wilson, 96, of Rapid River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Michigan.

Ruth was born on April 1, 1928 in Jenera, Ohio, the daughter of Oliver and Alma (Schaller) Bormuth. She was raised on the family farm in Jenera and attended school there. She was married to the father of her children, Richard Wilson, and together they had eight children. They later relocated their family to Stonington.

Ruth was a very talented quilt maker and looked forward every week to making quilts at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. She also loved to sew, needlepoint, embroidery, and she also enjoyed card games and bingo. She was a talented baker and cook and cooked for several restaurants in the area over her lifetime. She cherished time spent with her family and she will be deeply missed.

Ruth is survived by her children, Shirley (Keith) Olson, Jerome (Mary) Wilson, Jesse (Lois) Wilson, Joe Wilson, Sharon Hughes (Ken), Susan Wilson (Richie), and Jared (Ruthie) Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Delores VonStein; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Alma; son James Wilson; two brothers; three sisters; and the father of her children Richard Wilson.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral Services will follow visiting hours beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River with Pastor Tommy Richter officiating.
