BRAMPTON — Leonard J. Verbrigghe, 84, of Brampton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at OSF St Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Leonard was born on June 19, 1940 in Escanaba, the son of Henry and Louise (DeGrand) Verbrigghe. Leonard was a graduate of Rock High School. He was united in marriage to the former Gail Groleau on April 22, 1961 and together they shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2022. Leonard worked at Case in Wisconsin until they relocated back to the Upper Peninsula where he began working at Mead Paper until his retirement. He had an incredible work ethic and was dedicated to whatever he did.

Leonard was also a talented woodworker and cabinet builder and made many cabinets and various items for his family. When he wasn’t building or working, he was at Camp 7 Lake at their cottage. Leonard loved helping others, being outdoors, riding his side by side, and especially being with his family and watching his grandkids in sports. In his earlier years, he enjoyed camping and growing his garden. He had a witty sense of humor and was loved by everyone who knew him.

Leonard is survived by his children, Pam (Mark) Caswell and Alan (Teri) Verbrigghe; grandchildren, Jennifer (DJ) Beauchamp, Christina (Jerry) Ruether, Chad (Courtney) Verbrigghe, and Melinda (Randy) Tauke; great-grandchildren, Halle, Melanie, Mason, Stella, Jace, Sawyer, Braxton, Miles, Cade, and Luke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Henry, as well as his loving wife, Gail Verbrigghe; and grandson, Joshua.

Services honoring Leonard are being scheduled for a later date and will be announced by the Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County.
