Judy K. Djerf
WELLS — Judy K. Djerf, 71, of Wells, passed away on early Friday morning, January 17, 2025 in the presence of family and friends.
Judy was born on March 20, 1953 in Morton, Il., daughter of Don and Peggy (Weidenhamer) Lockhart. Her family moved to Trenary, Mich. where she attended Trenary High School and graduated in 1971. She then attended Bay de Noc Community College where she attained her Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
Judy married Roy Djerf on August 6, 1977 in Escanaba and they spent 41 loving
years together before Roy’s passing in 2018.
In the early years of Judy’s career, she began working as an x-ray technician at OSF hospital. After obtaining her accounting degree, she worked at U.P. Transcom/Public Service Credit Union. She then returned to work as an x-ray tech until she retired. Judy loved camping, fishing, reading, crocheting, and sewing. She donated many homemade hats and mittens to various charities and volunteered for No One Dies Alone, ministering to many patients and their families. In her retirement, she loved fishing with her friend Pat and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Among survivors are her children, Cory (Dawn) Nelson, Craig (Julie) Nelson, and Anna Kositzke; grandchildren, Patrick (Kristie) Nelson, Hailey Nelson, Samuel Nelson, Derec (Lauren) Nelson, Lucas Nelson, Devin (Ashley) Smith, Rebecca Kositzke, David Johnson, Brandon Bourdeau, and Ethan Kositzke; great-grandchildren, Eliza, Kaia, and Asher; siblings, Joyce (Mike) Frazer and Marc (Bertha) Lockhart; sister-in-law, Debbie Lockhart, her special friend Pat Rogers, and his daughter Anna along with many loved nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy; and brothers, Gary and Glenn Lockhart.
A visitation will take place on Friday, January 24, at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St, Escanaba, MI 49829, from 10 a.m. until noon. She will be placed in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the family and a memorial will be
established at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to OSF Hospital and OSF Hospice for the care and support they provided.
