David Richard Keller Sr.

David Richard Keller Sr.

ESCANABA — David Richard Keller Sr. passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. Born on November 4, 1954, in Ann Arbor, and raised in Milan, Michigan, David was a graduate of Milan High School. Later in life, he made Escanaba his home.

An accomplished ironworker and tradesman, David had a knack for knowing a little bit about everything. He was a true outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time surrounded by nature. His passion for collecting guns was matched only by his knowledge of them, and each piece in his collection came with a story he was eager to share.

David had a deep appreciation for the simplicity of life, some would say he was born a century too late. He enjoyed teaching conservation and hunter safety to anyone willing to listen. When not outdoors, he could be found watching westerns, always finding comfort in the familiar charm of these classics.

David is survived by his loving partner of 37 years, Marvis McLeod; his son, David Keller Jr. (Lena); Cassidy Casper, whom he always considered a daughter; and his cherished grandson, Arthur Keller. He is also survived by his brother, Tim Keller (Kim Littlefield); sisters, Mary Vanwashanova (Dennis) and Shelly Keller; and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Art and Betty Keller; and brother, Daniel.

David will be remembered for his stories, his generosity in sharing his knowledge, and the quiet wisdom he imparted to those around him. His love for the outdoors and dedication to preserving it will leave a lasting legacy.

While he’s no longer here to tell fishing stories, his legacy will live on in the woods, in tall tales told around the fire, and in every questionable hunting story told by his loved ones.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flower’s, donations can be made to Delta County Animal Shelter in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Keller family. To offer an online message of sympathy, please visit www.skradskifuneralhomes.com.
