Barbara Jean Lindgren
ALPENA — Barbara Jean Lindgren, 87, of Alpena passed away Saturday, December 29, 2024, at Turning Brook.
Barbara Jean Bailey was born on May 23, 1937, to the late Garfield and Camilla (Naneville) Bailey in Hancock, Michigan. On October 8, 1955, she married Clifford Lindgren. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2022. Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Alpena. She was proud of her Keweenaw Peninsula heritage and upbringing. In retirement, she and Cliff would summer at the family cottage “The Lake” on the shore of Lake Superior, which she truly loved. Barbara had a love for dogs, even having a “doggy daycare” in her home during their retirement years.
Surviving are her children, Dale (Debra) Lindgren of St. Augustine, Fla., Kelly (Matt) Hanson, Bark River, Mich., Jay (Trisha) Lindgren, Gaylord, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Chelsey (Lionel) Pelletier, Shawne (Brandon) Jowett, Matt (Jackie) Lindgren, Brent (Lauren) Hanson, Travis (Margaret) Hanson, Lucas (Julie) Hanson, Tyler (Devon) Hanson, Jay (Kylie) Lindgren; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Suzie Cole; brother, Garfield “Butch” (Diane) Bailey; sister-in-law, Joann Bailey; several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Toni Lindgren; infant sister, Ruth Violet and brother, Dean Bailey.
Memorial visitation will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Alpena on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. with Rev. Robert Nystrom officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home with a burial in the summer.
