Theresa Johnson
ESCANABA — Theresa Johnson, 98, of Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 4, 1926 in Escanaba, daughter to Celestine and Edna (LaLonde) Blanchette. Theresa was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1938.
On April 22, 1956, Theresa married Royal Johnson at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba. She was a beloved wife and a loving mother and homemaker to 11 children.
Theresa loved knitting, crocheting, and painting ceramics. She was a former member of St. Anthony’s Church and enjoyed singing in their choir. The highlight of her days, were the visits with her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Among survivors are her children, Christinia (Nino) Leonard -Green, Patricia (George) Leach, Doreen Johnson, Fred (Carol) Johnson, Jeffrey (Brenda) Johnson, Arlene Chenier, Bill (Kim) Johnson, and Elley (Dan) Fisher; grandchildren, Mark, Greg, and Jamie Johnson, Jason and Cory Leonard, Brigitte Gravelle, Cecelia Leach, Theresa Marohnic, Georgette Leach, Joyce Greenfield, Terrie Rudden, Jennifer Day, Bryan and Kyle Johnson, Rita Johnson, Lori Chenier, Roy Chenier, Erin Chenier, Daniel Johnson, Caitlin Johnson, Ian Fisher, and Andy Fisher; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Royal; she was preceded in death by three sons, Francis, Robert, and Clifford Johnson; her granddaughter, Angel Johnson; son in law, Jim Leonard; two sisters, Eleanore Shank and Rita LeClaire; and brother, Warren “Sonny” Blanchette.
Visitation will take place on Monday, December 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Deacon Mike Lebeau officiating and remembrance from Tina Garbe. During visitation hours, there will be light refreshments in the lounge.
Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
