Olivia E. ‘Livi’ DeGrand

ESCANABA — Olivia E. “Livi” DeGrand, 8, beautiful daughter of Jason and Trisha (Gersich) DeGrand, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday morning, November 23, 2024.

She was born on July 8, 2016 in Escanaba and blessed the lives of Jason and Trisha. Livi was a second grader at Holy Name Catholic School where she enjoyed attending. She loved Jesus, her friends and teachers at school, going to mass, and reading bible stories.

Livi was a character and the happiest little girl who loved to make others happy and to always feel loved. Her bubbly spirit coincided with her huge imagination. Whether pretending to be a teacher, a nurse, or making appointments for her next massage client; her family always loved playing along with her.

She loved being outside whether riding her bike, playing with her dog “Gus-Gus”, going to hunting camp to bait deer with her dad, playing in the sand, or going to swim and fish at the lake.

Livi had a kind heart and was extremely social. She needed people and was always so comfortable singing, dancing, and performing for others.

She is survived by her parents, Jason and Trisha of Escanaba; brother, Nicholas; grandparents, Rod and Gloria DeGrand and Cindy Gersich and Bob Vardigan; aunts and uncles, Mikki and Justin Berg, Jeremy and Steph DeGrand, Jamie and Vicki DeGrand, and Joey DeGrand (LeighAnn McPherson); nephews, Timmy and Levi DeGrand; and her birth mom and siblings.

We know she is now in the loving arms of her papa, Nick Gersich. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Eileen Winters, Gleason Winters, Art and Jean DeGrand, Nick Sr. and Therese Gersich, and Lloyd and Bette Carlson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to her parents and a memorial will be established in Livi’s name at a later date.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
