Jerry Alan Norman Sr.

GLADSTONE — Jerry Alan Norman Sr, 66, of Gladstone passed away unexpectedly at home on November 26, 2024.

Jerry was born on May 31, 1958 in Escanaba, the son of Marvin and Alice (Oathoudt) Norman. Jerry graduated from Rapid River High School in 1976 and in 1977 joined the Navy. The Navy became his life-long career spending much time aboard various submarines and various places around the world before retiring at the highest ranking for his division. Jerry also has been a member of the local American Legion for many years.

Upon retiring Jerry was able to pursue his first love, his treasured family (whom he loved immensely) and his close friends. Jerry was a very family oriented man, who was always ready to help family and friends. Jerry especially enjoyed helping his dad care for the deer at the family deer farm and spending time at camp. He loved hunting and fishing, backyard sports as well as barroom sports and cards, being good-naturedly competitive in all. He especially enjoyed getting together with his friends on the dart ball and smear teams.

Jerry was a very quiet man but once you knew him you would see what a beautiful heart and soul the man had, he will be missed by many.

Jerry is survived by his children, Katie Norman and Jerry (Mindi) Norman, wife, Sharon (Williams) Norman, stepchildren, Jason (Rebecca) Williams, Jenny (Larry) Johnson and Jamie (Jesse) Motto, brothers, John (Grace) Norman, Jeff Norman, Jim Norman, sister, Patti (Randy) Gartland, nieces, Nicole Norman, Samantha (Justin) Lewitzke, Alisha (Lance) Hereau, Miranda Gartland, nephews, Jake (Stacey) Norman and Justin (Mallorie) Norman. Jerry’s beloved grandchildren, Trinity, Sarah, Emma and Abigail Norman and his step grandchildren, Jealee, Jaeden, Jas, Caylin, Alyrae, Brylee, Parker, Harmony, Maxton, Christian and Cameryn. Also his best buddies, Teddy and Rusty.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alice, sister, Linda, niece, Harley Anderson and a stepson, Joel.

Family and friends please come join us to share stories of Jerry’s life on Sunday, December 15 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dewdrop Restaurant. Military honors will be held at 4 p.m. A luncheon, coffee and pop will be provided.
