Aaron Joseph St. John
POWERS — Aaron Joseph St. John, 83, Powers, passed away on Friday December 13, 2024 at his home. He was born June 18, 1941 in Hermansville, son of Joseph and Gwendolyn (Weaver) St. John. He grew up in Powers and worked as a carpenter/millwright for over 50 years. He was a 50 year member of the Michigan Carpenter’s Union #1510-ESC.
On August 31, 1963 Aaron was united in marriage to Laurel Gedvick. They were married in San Francisco, where Aaron was a city bus driver. Their son Alan was born in California in 1965 and in 1967 they moved back to Michigan.
In 1976 they purchased Hillside Plumbing in Spalding and they were business owners for over twenty years. Aaron was a lifelong ham radio operator and sends “73’s” to all fellow Ham’s
Aaron is survived by a son, Alan St. John of Powers; daughter, Lana St. John of Menominee; daughter, Lynnette: (Dan) Stein of Bark River; three grandchildren, Krystl Scott, Savannah Stein and Joseph Stein; two great-grandchildren, Braedyn Petrini and Amara Petrini; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Gedvick and Richard Gedvick; and four sisters in-law, Sue Gedvick, Beth Gedvick, Gail Moraska and Sandy St. John.
In addition to his his parents, Aaron was preceded in death by his wife Laurel St. John, his son: Arlan St. John, his sister: Sr. Jo Lynn St. John, his brother: Howard St. John and a brother in-law: Leonard Moraska.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding on Friday, December 20, at 1 p.m. CST with Fr. Benny Mathew officiating. Aaron’s wish was to donate his body to his body to medical science so more cancer research can be done.
