Timothy ‘Timmer’ Getzloff
WILSON — Timothy “Timmer” Getzloff, 56, of Wilson, passed away on November 13, 2024 at UP Health System – in Marquette surrounded by his loving family.
Timmer was born on September 25, 1968 in Norway, Mich., son of Glenn and Ruth (Jackson) Getzloff. He attended Bark River Harris High School and graduated in 1986.
Timmer had sisu in his blood, he was a hard worker and had a work ethic like no other. Growing up on a farm he learned to be a jack of all trades. He had such a brilliant mind there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, build, or repair. After graduation, he moved houses for Tony Vandermissen and Sons. This led him to get his CDL and become a truck driver. He worked at Snowden Construction, and UP Machine. He became an owner operator of Tim Getzloff Trucking hauling veneer in Canada and Wisconsin. He worked for RLR Logging Inc for many years and finished his career with St. John Forest Products.
In his younger years he enjoyed being on the pit crew of the Nutcracker Racing Team with Dave Vandermissen and his family. He also built and raced a car together with one of his best friends, Una. He loved snowmobiling, riding four-wheelers, and being out at camp. He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands. He and his friends built the home for his family and also their camp. He was incredibly proud of the Case tractor that he rebuilt as a legacy to his dad. Timmer was also known for his love of cartoons. There wasn’t a time where Shrek wasn’t playing in the background. Timmer always left an impression with his colorful language but he made up for it with a heart of gold. He would selflessly give the shirt off his back to anyone who might need it.
He is survived by his three children, Cameron (Shawna) Getzloff, Julia (Steve Reule) Gudwer, and Cassidy (James Braman) Getzloff; mother of his children, Kerry Getzloff; grandchildren, Ryder Getzloff, Devin Getzloff, Brent Getzloff, Sophia Gudwer, Sadee Gudwer, Kyleigh Braman, Elaina Braman, Nickolas Braman, Caroline Braman, and Kasen Braman; sisters, Sue Frisk, Debbie Getzloff, Jennifer Getzloff, Nancy (Ron) Nelson; brothers-in-law, Bill Micheau and Craig Kutha; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Other people in Tim’s life that he cherished include, Bryan “Una” Henderson, Wayne Mathias, John “Red” Getzloff, Ed Flath, Tim Viau, Chad Mileski, Pauly Cole, Mike Chaulkin, and Amanda Castor.
In addition to his parents, Timmer is preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Getzloff; his uncles, John Getzloff and Abe Getzloff; brother-in-law, Barry Frisk; and friend, Jerry Vandermissen.
