Tammy Jo Pepin
BARK RIVER — Tammy Jo Pepin, 60, of Bark River, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Murrays Country View in Gladstone.
She was born on May 1, 1964 in Escanaba, daughter to the late Fredrick Lionel and Mary Lee (Derusha) Bowden. Tammy was raised in Hyde and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1982. While in high school, she coached basketball for the Special Olympics. She continued her education at Suomi College for one year.
On November 5, 1988, Tammy married Michael S. Pepin at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba.
Tammy worked at Bridgewood Assisted Living from 1982 until 1991. She later was employed at the DSISD Learning Center for 20 years until her retirement in 2017. While at the Learning Center she implemented an art class for the students and worked tirelessly to get the students artwork on public display at the Bonifas Fine Arts Center.
She loved crafts, working in her flower garden, painting, and doing ceramics. Tammy was an avid Dolly Parton and Wizard of Oz fan.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Michael S. Pepin of Bark River; daughter, Kelsey J. (Devin) Congleton of Bark River; grandchildren, Sean and Novalyn Congleton; siblings, Todd (Barbara) Bowden and Tiffany (Simon) Edwards; and niece, Brooke Helen Bowden.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
