Philip Joseph Dubord

GLADSTONE — Philip Joseph Dubord, 96, of Gladstone, passed away Friday evening, November 1, 2024 at the Bishop Noa Home.

He was born in Escanaba on January 11, 1928, the son of Emil and Georgina (Vailliencourt) Dubord.

Philip married Lela Lancour on June 23, 1951 and shared a wonderful marriage and a family with four sons, Kevin, Allen, Kent, and Todd.

For most of his life, Philip worked for the Chicago and North Western Railroad as a brakeman. He started working in 1946 and retired in 1991 as a conductor after a dedicated 45 years of employment.

An avid fisherman, he enjoyed the quiet times up at their family camp on Round Lake for over 50 years. During his 30 plus years of retirement, Philip enjoyed woodworking projects, gardening, and traveling with his wife, Lela. Together they spent numerous winters in Texas and were able to explore Europe and visited Alaska eleven times. His entire life he was a dedicated member of Holy Family Church where he supported, attended, and volunteered.

He is survived by his children, Kevin (Charyl) Dubord of Gladstone, Mich., Allen Dubord of Chugiak, Ark., and Todd (Rebecca) Dubord of Escanaba, Mich.; grandchildren, Heather Jarvis, Eric (Robin) Dubord, Sara (Brad) Trombley, Krista (Kevin Braun) Dubord, Jeremiah Dubord, and Vincin (Chelsea) Dubord; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lela; son, Kent Dubord; and all nine of his siblings.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11 beginning at 3 p.m. and will conclude at 5 p.m. with parish prayers at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S 13th St., Escanaba, MI 49829. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, November 12 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 4011 Cty 416 20th Rd., Gladstone MI 49837, officiated by Father Sebastian Chacko. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
