Marilyn J. (Derouin) Bosk
AURORA, Colo. — Marilyn J. (Derouin) Bosk, 91, of Aurora, Colorado, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Marilyn was born January 1, 1933 in Escanaba. She was the daughter of Rene and Marie (DeHoogie) Derouin.
Marilyn grew up in Escanaba. She was a 1951 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following high school, she started working at Ely’s Potato Chip factory. That’s were she met the love of her life, William J. Bosk. On December 11, 1954, they got married at the Justice of the Peace in Marinette, Wisconsin. They Moved to Denver, Colorado in 1954 where Bill joined the Painters Union. They had four children: Tina, Billy, Tammy, & Dave.
In 1970, they moved back to Escanaba where they opened Bosk Bakery on Ludington Street, which was in the building that is now the Delta Hair Company.
Marilyn’s husband, William “Bill” Bosk, preceded her in death on May 13, 1997. They were married for 42 years.
Marilyn enjoyed being a homemaker and cared for the family. She loved children and was known by many as “Grandma”. Marilyn also loved spending time with her sisters. She had “sister days”, which was going to the casino, craft shows, riding her bike around Ludington Park, and going on mini trips. Marilyn was very creative and enjoyed crafting and coloring in her free time.
Marilyn moved to South Carolina in 2015 to live with her granddaughter, Jackie Meyer, until 2022, where she went to Colorado for a visit but ended up staying until her death in 2024.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Tina (Lanny Wempen) Bosk of Aurora, Colorado, Bill (Gail) Bosk of Aurora, Colorado, Tammy (Terry) Bellgowan of Cornell, Michigan, Dave Bosk of Brighton, Colorado; her grandkids: Jackie (Jeremy) Meyer of Anderson, South Carolina, Richie Deem of Bellingham, Washington, Heidi Bosk of Denver, Colorado, Monique Griswold of Brighton, Colorado and Allen (Emylee) Bosk of Dacono, Colorado; her great grandkids: Riccara Deem, Jersie and Jamison Meyer, Violet and Lilly Speight, Aver and Brynn Bosk and her siblings: Theresa (Bill) Druding of Rapid River and Marvin (Kay) Derouin of Thornton, Colorado.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by great-grandkids Jersie and Carson Meyer, her sisters Shirley Durfour, Barb Gosselin, and Helen Derouin.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 25 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba with funeral services honoring and celebrating Marilyn that will begin at 2 p.m. with Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating.
