James ‘Jim’ P. Marohnic
ESCANABA — James “Jim” P. Marohnic, 55, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 15, 2025 at his home of natural causes.
He was born on April 30, 1969 in Escanaba, son of Albert E. and Carol J. Marohnic Sr. Jim was raised in Escanaba until his family moved to Bark River and he attended Bark River Harris School.
He worked for Krause Lumber for several years before starting with Bark River Concrete, a job he enjoyed, for the last 20 plus years.
Jim was a fix-it guy. A mechanic, carpenter, handyman, and one that just enjoyed staying busy. He was a good person that always was available to help others. Spending time with his friends and enjoying “socialables” were moments he cherished.
Among survivors include his three children, Ashley Ann Porath of Bark River, James Paul Marohnic Jr. of Calumet, and Jacob James Marohnic of Bark River; grandson, David Bartczak; his father, Albert Marohnic Sr.; siblings, Albert (Nina) Marohnic Jr. of Escanaba, Bruce Marohnic of Gladstone, Diane Marohnic of Bark River, Nancy (Joseph) Richer of Bark River, Dave (Laura) Marohnic of Bark River, and Rob (Theresa) Marohnic of Bark River; aunts, Jean Willlette, Shirley Nelson, and Diane Leach; many nieces and nephews; the mother of Ashley and James, Dawn Gobert; and the mother of Jacob, Georgette Leach.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 2021 and his girlfriend, Debra Clark.
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 27 at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Bark River Twp. Cemetery Cemetery.
