Dale James Villeneuve
ESCANABA — Dale James Villeneuve, age 82, of Escanaba passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2024, doing what he loved to do, hunting while in South Dakota.
Dale was born May 24,1942, in Escanaba, Michigan, the son of Ernest and Birdie (Provo) Villeneuve. Dale attended Holy Name Catholic School, graduating in 1961. On July 8, 1961, Dale was united in marriage to Sharon Rose and together they raised their family in Escanaba. Dale was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where he volunteered his time to pasty making every year for the St. Thomas Annual Pasty Sale.
He worked at Mead Paper Company for over 35 years. He retired in 2007 and spent his retirement the way he wanted to.
Dale loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter. For many years he went to South Dakota with his son Joel and the guys at the “Rack Shack” to enjoy their special hunting trip.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Raymond) King and Amy Vallier; his son, Joel (Marci) Villeneuve; grandchildren, Jason and Stephanie King, Jennifer King, Timothy (Amber) Vallier, Joel Vallier, Josh (Kelsey) Villeneuve, ShyAnne Kloss, Walker Villeneuve, Alex (Kylee Belott) Larson, Adam (Lisa Hollister) Larson, Carlie Heath, Dustin (Taylor) Heath and Travis Heath; great-grandchildren; Hannah, Abby, Jayden, Liam, Graysen, Kinzly, Skylar, Madox, and Wyatt; brother, Leroy (Kathy) Villeneuve and his sister-in-law, Nancy Villeneuve Pierce. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon; his parents, Ernest and Birdie; brother, Alan Villeuneve; sisters-in-law, Merry Brower, Barb (Tom) Swift; brother-in-law, Joey Rose and son-in-law, Scott Vallier.
Dale’s family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, November 13, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Following visitation Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Escanaba with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow at St. Anthony’s parish hall in Wells. Dale will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba.
