Anne Marie ‘Lillan’ Taylor
ESCANABA — Anne Marie “Lillan” Taylor, 92, of Escanaba passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born August 29, 1932, in Stavanger, Norway and was the daughter of Dr. Lars and Kari (Andersen Strand) Linneberg. Lillan grew up in Oslo, Norway and finished her education in Oslo. While traveling to Paris, Lillan met the love of her life, Melvyn Taylor who was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were married August 9, 1954 at St. Olav’s Catholic Cathedral in Oslo, Norway. They spent their honeymoon in Copenhagen, Denmark and began their married life in Casablanca French Morocco where Melvyn was stationed.
Mel and Lillan started Taylor Poultry Farm in Schaffer in 1961 until a fire destroyed the farm in December of 1975. On August 16, 1976, they opened Mel’s Lawn and Garden in Escanaba.
Lillan is survived by children, Karin Clifton of Marquette, Linda (Paul) Erickson of Escanaba, Anne Marie (Michael) Moyle of Belmont, Mich. and Glen (Carolyn) Taylor of Escanaba; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Aase Strand of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lillan was preceded in death by her husband, Mel on August 7, 2006, and sister, Kari Kyrkjebo.
“p1″>Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Anne Marie “Lillan” Taylor will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Robb Jurkovich officiating. A reception will follow the funeral services in the Ludington Room located in the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer, Mich.
