Terry M. Otradovec

BARK RIVER — Terry M. Otradovec, 82, of Bark River, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Pinecrest Medical Facility in Powers, Mich.

Terry was born on March 29, 1942, in Wilson, Mich., son of Matthew and Irene (Arkens) Otradovec. He graduated from Bark River High School, class of 1960.

He married Diane Kwarciany on June 13, 1970, at St. George Church in Bark River.

Terry joined the U.S. Army in March of 1964, and achieved the rank of Specialist Technician while gaining the Marksman-Carbine, Sharp Shooter-Rifle, and Good Conduct Medal awards during his career at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. He was honorably discharged in 1966.

Terry worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Delta County Road Commission until he retired in 2004.

Hunting, cutting firewood, driving his golf cart, watching old sitcoms and the Weather Channel were some of the simple things Terry enjoyed. He was a member of the American Legion in Bark River and a life-long member of the D.A.V. chapter in Escanaba. He also served as the fire chief of the Bark River Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years. Terry took great pride in the house he built for himself, Diane, and their children, but nothing brought him more joy in life than spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Kirk (Lisa) Otradovec of Green Bay, Wis., Kami (Chris) Parrett of Rapid River, Mich., and Kory (Sarah) Otradovec of Iron Mountain, Mich.; grandchildren, Alexus and Blayke Otradovec of Green Bay, Wis. and Abby Otradovec of Gladstone, Mich.; brother, Tony Otradovec; in-laws, Linda Otradovec, Dale (Jane) Kwarciany, Randy (Marie) Kwarciany, Donald (Barb) Kwarciany, and Mark (Joann) Kwarciany and Sue Kwarciany; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his brother, Francis Otradovec; parents-in-law Edward and Drusilla Kwarciany; brother-in-law, Thomas Kwarciany; and sister-in-law, Darlene (Pinky) Otradovec.

A visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River on Friday, September 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A burial with military honors will take place at the Bark River Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Messages of condolence can be directed toward the family at www.crawfordfuneralhomes.net.
