Joseph H. Mosier

ESCANABA — Joseph H. Mosier, age 88, of Escanaba, formerly of Perkins, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
Joseph was born on June 15, 1935, in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of William Joseph and Bertha Elizabeth (Behrandt) Mosier. He was raised in Perkins, Mich. and graduated from Perkins High School. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1957 through February 1960. Joe worked for most of his life in the forest industry.
Joe enjoyed the outdoors of the U.P. and was an avid fisherman. From perch and walleye fishing on little Bay de Noc to salmon fishing out of his boat “grandpa’s pride”, he loved being on the water. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a woodsman and Christmas tree farmer for many years. He enjoyed feeding deer, birds, and turkeys in the backyard of the home in Rapid River, Mich. He loved gardening flowers and vegetables. He was a friend to many and loved to share stories with his family and friends.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sylvia (Beier) Mosier of 61 years; his four children, Sonia (Chris) Depuydt, Carla Seger, Joel Mosier, and Jason (Tina Wise) Mosier; four grandchildren, Mitchell, Rachell, Finn and Sean; one niece, Beth Ann (Nesmith) Zarembski; three nephews, Brion Nesmith, David Nesmith and Brad Nesmith, along with their spouses and children.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and William Mosier, brother Clifford Mosier, sister Marie Nesmith, brother in-law Jack Nesmith and nephew Kevin Nesmith.
